Team from Sunway BIS cracks it right!

November 21, 2011

On 16th April 2011, Nottingham University, Malaysia campus had organised the inaugural Malaysian Inter-University ‘Crack the Case’ Business Challenge with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales as the official patron and Price water house Coopers the main supporter for the event. 16 teams participated in the challenge including 4 from Sunway University.

The competition revolved around a close-to-reality case study which requires teams of participants to apply their business knowledge and critical thinking. Each team was given 40 minutes to evaluate the case study and prepare their presentation slides. Once the presentations started, each team was given 5 minutes to present their evaluation and judges, including a partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers and a professor from Nottingham University, would have 3 minutes to post challenging questions and unpleasant comments.

In the end, both the champion and a runner-up position were claimed by teams from Sunway University. The champion team was Blackberry, which comprised Leong Ji Kin, Adrian Wong Jie Min and Chng Ying Zhao, the founding members of Sunway Business Investment Society (BIS). The runners-up were a team from Nottingham University, Malaysia campus and another team from School of Business, Sunway University. The judges felt that team Blackberry covered unique points and presented differently from the rest. As a result, the judges were prompted to crown Blackberry as the winning team.
